Newcastle PTSA Mission

The Newcastle Elementary PTSA is a non-profit organization which supports the children and families of Newcastle Elementary School within the Issaquah School District. In partnership with families, the community, teachers, and staff, we provide the funding, programs, and volunteers to enrich the educational experience for every child.

2022-2023 Goals

MEMBERSHIP

We will strive to achieve 100% membership with each family, teacher, and staff member represented.

STUDENT ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS

We will support and enrich the educational needs of Newcastle Elementary students through supplemental programs (e.g., Art Docents, Science-to-Go, Assemblies, and funding for additional BEL support).

  • Introduce a minimum of 2 new art projects
  • Conduct Spelling Bees as well as Math Adventures
  • Introduce one new enrichment program

 

FAMILY EVENTS

Throughout the year the PTSA will sponsor, coordinate, and promote at least 3 family events that enrich our curriculum and/or foster a sense of school community. 

 

PARENT OUTREACH

The PTSA will build and sustain a sense of welcome and community for every Newcastle family:

  1. Execute Kinder Connect events to connect kindergarten parents together.
  2. Key PTSA materials will be translated to predominant languages.
  3. Each General Membership meeting will include a Parent Education element.
  4. Hold 3 family movie nights throughout the year.
  5. A minimum of 5 Dr. Wood Coffee Talks will be held throughout the year.

 

COMMUNICATION

  1. The PTSA will strive to ensure each family, teacher, and staff member is aware of PTSA events and activities using weekly eNews, KidMail, website and social media communications
  2. The PTSA will create transparency regarding how fundraising dollars are spent with bi-annual budget reviews at General Membership meetings and timely communications as spending occurs.

 

STAFF AND VOLUNTEER SUPPORT

  1. The PTSA will recognize and support the efforts of the staff at Newcastle Elementary by hosting grade-level luncheons and celebrating the staff during Staff Appreciation Week.
  2. The PTSA will recognize and support volunteer efforts with volunteer “Tokens of Appreciation”, a Volunteer Spotlight in eNews, and with an annual Appreciation Event.

 

FUNDRAISING

The PTSA will execute fundraising activities throughout the year, increasing funds raised each year by a minimum of 10%.

 

HUMANITARIAN

The PTSA will create a community of giving via Food Drives, Holiday Gift Barn program, Lunch for the Break, seeking to increase the amount given year-over-year.
