Communications Bulletin Board Bulletin Board Chair: Katie Or When: Year-Round Design a fun and friendly board with positive messages for our kids to read and enjoy. It can also include flyers to promote upcoming events and programs. Communications Communications Chair: (none) When: Year-Round Reports to the PTSA President and assists in coordinating all PTSA communications. PTSA Directory PTSA Directory Chair: (none) When: Fall The directory is prepared by the PTSA and includes basic family information (student name, parent names, address, phone number, and email address). If you would like any student or family information to appear differently from what was provided to the school, please email us with that information. Your family’s information will be included in the directory unless you have requested that it remain unpublished. If you are unsure, contact the school Registrar at 425-837-5821. Volunteers help with editing, printing and distributing. Generally completed by the end of October. Website Website Chair: (none) The PTSA website has forms & flyers you can print at home, a calendar, the latest information on volunteering, programs, and fundraising, plus a lot more! Check it out at www.newcastleptsa.org	School Services Popcorn Popcorn Chair: (none) When: Year-Round Help on Friday afternoons to prepare popcorn and sell to our kids during afternoon recesses. Volunteers work on a rotating basis, once or twice per month. School Supplies Kits School Supplies Kits Chair: (none) Assist with opening pallet of delivery from SchoolToolBox. Organize and label boxes of supplies already put together by the company and sort by grade. Spirit Wear Spirit Wear Chair: (none) Help sort and distribute spirit wear orders.	Other Committees Angel Program Angel Program Chair: Becky Butler When: Ongoing The Angel Program at Newcastle Elementary was created to provide a helping hand to students who need extra support with necessities such as backpacks, school supplies and other school supplies, as well as helping pay for specific student or family requests. The program is strictly confidential, both sponsors (known as ‘Angels’) and students remain anonymous. If you need assistance for your student, please see Kailey Mutter. Annually, donations of clothing and toys are packed at the school and delivered to the Issaquah Food & Clothing Bank to be displayed at the Red Barn for families in need to walk through and pick out what they need. Kinder Connect Kinder Connect Chair: (none) When: Throughout the Year Connecting kindergarten families together! Kids building friendships with kids, and parents building friendships with other parents. Join us for our monthly play dates. Volunteers assist with kindergarten socials throughout the school year. Membership Membership Chair: (none) This committee handles the PTA membership drive at the beginning of the year. We are striving for 100% membership! Staff Appreciation Staff Appreciation Chair: (none) When: Year-Round Committee assists with ideas and planning to show staff and teachers our appreciation in various ways throughout the year.
Student Life First TWO Weeks of School Helpers First TWO Weeks of School Helpers Chair: (none) When: Beginning of School Year Volunteers help students during the first week of school. You will greet students when they arrive at school in the bus lanes and guide them to the playground. At the end of the day, volunteers assist to make sure students get onto the correct buses and that pick-up kids are waiting for their parents in the pick up line. Help kindergarten and first grade students during the first weeks of school at lunch time. What a fun way to help out! Gift-A-Book Gift-A-Book Chair: (none) Volunteers to help cut and glue book tags before event and then adhere bookplates in donated books at the end of the event. Picture Day Picture Day Chair: (none) When: Fall of 2026 and Spring 2027 Recruit 3-4 volunteers to help with students during fall and spring picture days. Stay tuned for specific dates.	Art and Music Enrichment LionArt Docent LionArt Docent Chair: (none) When: Year-Round This is a visual arts program designed to allow children more opportunities to explore their art talents through educational art lessons and creative art projects conducted in the classroom. If you enjoy working with students, then this is a wonderful volunteer opportunity for you. No art knowledge or experience is required. All volunteers are welcome, from those who have no formal art training to those individuals that have an extensive art background. Click here for more info Reflections Reflections Chair: (none) When: Fall The National PTA Reflections Program is an arts recognition and achievement program that provides opportunities for students to express themselves creatively and to receive positive recognition for original works of art inspired by a pre-selected theme. The program increases community awareness on the importance of the arts in education. Entries will be due the beginning of November. Help coordinate volunteers, distribute information and promote the program, display entries, identify judges, and help coordinate a reception for participants.	Fundraising Yoga Yoga Chair: (none) Ladies' yoga night fundraiser to bring women together and promote community inclusion for all. Auction 2027 Auction 2027 Chair: Katie Green, Maryam Taylor When: August 2026 - March 5, 2027 The Newcastle Elementary silent auction and entertainment event will take place on March 5, 2027 at the Newcastle Golf Club (online auction will take place in December 2026). Our annual auction is the biggest fundraiser of the year, and its success depends on the support of our amazing school community. The funds raised help provide enriching programs, classroom resources, student experiences, and other opportunities that benefit our school throughout the entire year. It takes many volunteers—each contributing their unique skills and time—to make the auction a success. Whether you enjoy connecting with local businesses, organizing details behind the scenes, creating eye-catching marketing materials, or helping on event day, there's a role for everyone. By volunteering, you're helping create an incredible event that directly supports every student and teacher in our school. Power Packs Power Packs Chair: (none) When: Year-Round Coordinate with the Issaquah Food and Clothing Bank to pick up snacks for the counselor to disperse to students in need.
Math and Science Enrichment First Lego League (FLL) First Lego League (FLL) Chair: (none) FLL (FIRST Lego League) is the 4th-8th grade robotics competition where students are given a challenge and approximately 3 months to build and program a LEGO robot that can complete tasks specified in the challenge. Students learn basic programming, building skills, and problem solving. Meetings are on Wednesdays after school for 2 hours. Students also MUST be available to attend the competition in the first or second week of December. This is a a night of holiday cheer while decorating your own gingerbread house and cookies. Advocacy Advocacy Advocacy Chair: (none) When: Year-Round The Advocacy Chair helps keep our school community informed about education issues that impact our students and schools. This volunteer shares updates from the PTSA, school district, and state PTA, promotes advocacy opportunities, and encourages families to stay informed and engaged. The Advocacy Chair works closely with the Issaquah PTSA Council to support nonpartisan advocacy efforts that strengthen public education.	Afterschool Enrichment Programs FLL After School Robotics Program FLL After School Robotics Program Chair: (none) When: SEP to DEC 2025 (13 weeks), TUE 3:30-5PM FLL is a Robotics afterschool program run by the students of Liberty Highschool. FLL (First Lego League) is the 4th-8th grade robotics competition where students are given a challenge and approximately 3 months to build and program a LEGO robot that can complete tasks specified in the challenge. Students learn basic programming, building skills, and problem solving. This year they need our help to make it happen. This program will run From September to mid December. It will take place on Tuesdays from 3:30 to 5pm. We need volunteers as well as a program advisor. Make sure to read the job description under each category of volunteers. Yearbook Yearbook Photographer Yearbook Photographer Chair: (none) When: Year-Round The Yearbook Photographer helps capture the special moments that make the school year memorable. Throughout the year, the photographer attends first day of school, recess, classroom activities, art class, music class, PE and other school events and celebrations that happen before March. They work closely with the Yearbook Chair to provide a variety of high-quality images that reflect the experiences of students, staff, and the school community. No professional photography experience is required—just a willingness to attend events and capture great moments. Wave, do some little moves, and bring joy to our students. No speaking necessary! 3-5 events throughout the year and mostly during school hours.
